This video highlights the work of Adivasi Vikas Manch (AVM), formed in 1993, in Kotra, Rajasthan. The collective strengthens the Gram Sabha and Gaun Sabha under the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). AVM empowers Adivasi communities by ensuring their participation in village governance and promoting cultural preservation.
AVM also focuses on increasing political participation of Adivasi women by building their leadership skills to contest Panchayati Raj elections. The collective works on various issues, including the Forest Rights Act and supporting migrant laborers. Despite challenges like political interference and deep-rooted gender biases, AVM continues to push for more inclusive representation.
